This is the last email I'll send as The Sunday Back Page. There won't be another edition.

I'm sunsetting it as I work on a new project that's partially informed by everything I built here.

I've enjoyed celebrating the creators I read, listen to, and watch every week, and sharing that with you, my loyal readers, each Sunday morning.

It takes a lot of work to produce this each week, and it hasn't produced the monetary benefit I was hoping for. (It is free.) It has been more of a service-oriented publication, and I'm OK with that.

I've learned a lot from this, but I'm even more grateful for the relationships I've built and for those of you who have submitted your hard work for consideration.

If you've been reading The Lead column each week, this next project probably isn't a surprise. Bobby Valentine and the Mets. John Sterling, George Steinbrenner and the Yankees. Roger Clemens and Mike Piazza. The Knicks’ championship run. A Father's Day piece from the U.S. Open right here in the area. At least half of what's landed in that column has been New York sports, whether I planned it that way or not.

I also spent more than a decade at the New York Daily News, and a smaller stretch at the New York Post before that.

So my next move is New York sports. It'll carry pieces of what I built here with The Sunday Back Page, pieces of what I'm building with my other newsletter, Write Sports, and more.

For now, I'm calling it the New York Sports Project until I land on something better. If that sounds like something you'd want in on, join the waiting list:
